− | == | + | This is a list of organisations that we might recommend people apply to (though we haven't looked into most of them in detail ourselves). We don't necessarily endorse the organisations' work - one way to improve the world is go to an organisation with problems and improve it. As this is still a draft, an organisation not being on this list doesn't indicate we dislike it, as we may have simply missed it. |

Before looking at this list, see the organisations we recommend within each of our recommended problem areas.
Note that this list is only periodically updated. Last significant update: March 2017.
This is a list of organisations that we might recommend people apply to (though we haven't looked into most of them in detail ourselves). We don't necessarily endorse the organisations' work - one way to improve the world is go to an organisation with problems and improve it. As this is still a draft, an organisation not being on this list doesn't indicate we dislike it, as we may have simply missed it.
They all work on problems we regard as highly pressing.

Global priorities research
We know of only a small number of groups doing research that tries to compare global problems at the highest level (e.g. climate change vs global health):
- Open Philanthropy Project
- Centre for Effective Altruism (our parent organisation)
- Future of Humanity Institute
- Copenhagen Consensus Center
A wider range of groups run trials or collect and compile data in specific policy areas. We don’t regard this as equally neglected, but it is a very complementary form of research:
- Washington State Institute for Public Policy
- The Pew-Macarthur Results First Initiative
- The Center for High Impact Philanthropy
- What Works Network
- Campbell Collaboration
- Behavioural Insights Team
- Poverty Action Lab
- Global Catastrophic Risk Institute
- Foundational Research Institute
- Future of Life Institute
- Many other social scientists or medical researchers who run trials on ways of improving wellbeing.
